Mummies gone wild

6 Nov

Our current charter is with the owner’s daughter and 8 of her girlfriends. Each of the women, in their mid thirties, are mothers so they are lapping up the time away from their children.

The first night was a riot, ending with the mummies dancing on the bar top in the main salon. Like any good girls night there was music, shreeking, lots of wine, and laughing. At one stage, 2 of the mummies were laying on the floor holding hands, looking deep into each others eyes and crying. An obvious heart to heart was taking place in-between shots of Amaretto…. yes, they ended the night doing shots of Amaretto. Puke!

Last night the mummies wanted to go dancing, but being early on in the season (we are the first boat here in St Barth’s), not much was open. Reluctantly, after some drinks out, they came home just after 12 and ate enough nachos for a small army.  I am impressed, as everyday the mummies have also had full days packed with activities. Perhaps this is the no sleep, mother drive kicking in, where they can keep going and going.

Tonight they have set out on a mission to get their dance on. It is now 3.20am and I am sitting on the aft deck waiting for the mummies to get home. Even though they will be half blind when they do return, it is standard procedure that one of us waits up to welcome them back onboard and get them anything they may need. 20 minutes ago one of the mummies showed up by herself at the back of the boat asking where everyone else was…. I pointed to the club they were at and she passed me her wallet and a top.

“Don’t you want to take your wallet with you?” I asked. Apparently she didn’t need it…. “You take it! I can’t wait to get over there! What a great night… see you later!” she said. I wonder where she has been by herself  since dinner?

I would like to think that one day when I have kids my friend will say:

“Come away to St Barth’s for the week. Have a break from the kids! We can fly down on my private plane and stay on Dad’s 160ft yacht.”

Well…. dreams are free. At least the mummies are taking full advantage of the situation and having a screamer. I would be very disappointed otherwise!

Till next time. Ahoy me maties! X
