Men in black

15 Nov

It is funny how much can change in a week. Our wild mummies left the boat, then literally 20 minutes later, 4 new guests arrived. We now have an older couple and their parents, who are in their mid eighties, so the general tone is a lot more low-key.

We are just over 2 weeks into our 6 week straight charter. After racing around the boat like a bunch of lunatics fixing everything up, we greeted the new guests, who had no idea of the hysteria prior to their arrival.

It has come to my attention that I have not worn my own clothes for 17 days straight now – I am beginning to feel like a little slave to the man. Cracks within the crew are starting to show as we continue to work without any days off…. Just over 4 more weeks till we get a day off to be precise! It really is a strange feeling to wear a uniform continuously and not be able to show your own style.

Last night some of the crew who weren’t working late got off to try a famous espresso martini in Antigua. Not being one to drink much coffee, the drink(s!) gave me quite a kick and got me pretty pumped to get out. So – we set out on a mission to a local bar with music. It ended with myself and 2 of the stewardesses dancing like crazy – all in our uniforms. You see, when guests are on the boat, even if you do get a break, you have to leave the boat in your uniform. We look like the ‘men in black’ in our black pants and black polo shirt. Why would you wear a nice dress of your own when you can look like Tiger Woods’ caddy?

While it was so great to go crazy and get away from the boat, it wasn’t so funny when I had to get up this morning for a 5.30am departure……

We are back in St Barth’s for another 3 nights before we pick up the next guests.

Until next time. Ahoy me maties! X
